In late 2011 I travelled with my parents for 10 days from Xining to Lhasa and through Tibet to Nepal. The journey from Xining was on the Qinghai – Tibet railway, the highest railway in world. The highest point on the railway is Tanggula Pass at 5,072m, given the altitude the train has an individual oxygen supply for every passenger although we didn’t have any problems with the altitude on the train. After a few days in Lhasa we made our way to the Nepalese border via Samye, Gyantse, Sakya and Everest Base Camp.
